Italian Ivy Macraweave
Italian Ivy — Woven Tapestry
Stories matter. And hearing other people’s stories is my favorite aspect of traveling. It offers new perspectives + shifts something deep within about the nature of living. And since I am so antsy to book a flight anywhere to hear more stories, I spent week three of #100daysofphotostofibers reminiscing about our spontaneous layover in Roma. I drew inspiration from these photos I took of an Ivy-covered Church near our AirBnB. Every alley, every window, every cobblestone street held layer upon layer of stories. And I wanted to hear them all. I asked our Über driver if he ever gets used to the history+magic of his own city. To which he chuckled and replied, “How could I when I am constantly reminded just how special it is by all you visitors? You take photos of normal alleys that make me wonder — what did you see that I missed?” What a profound reminder that there is hidden beauty in the familiarity surrounding us all. So I set out to create a macraweave of this beautiful terracotta church draped in ivy, holding more stories than we may ever know. Incorporating both macramé knots + weaving techniques, there is a juxtaposition of the architectural beauty with the natural soft flowing ivy.
For #the100dayproject, my original photos will also be available for purchase. If you would like to purchase the print of The Italian Ivy Church, it is available here.

With every sale, you choose a project you would like to support. My hope is that it would connect you to some incredible work that is being done around the world. Together, we are #knotjustthreads, we are an interwoven tapestry and when we come together, beautiful things can happen.
I have been intentional with the organizations I have chosen to support. I know that it is not only important to know where the money goes, but to know that the work is being done in sustainable ways to produce a long-lasting impact. Having personally partnered with each of these organizations in the field, I have seen how they practice love in action.
